Triple-O: the player character emulator

Created by Cezar Capacle

Triple-O is a tool for solo RPG players who want to invert roles and play as the GM instead of a character. Originally launched as a one-page solution, this new zine version brings more random tables, examples, and new use cases!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Shipping has begun (and some updated files)
2 months ago – Fri, May 22, 2026 at 02:59:39 AM

Morning, folks.

I’m pleased to announce that shipping of the Triple-O zines has officially begun.

Some packages have already gone out in this first phase, and tracking numbers should start appearing soon through the BackerKit backend. That means some of you may start receiving your copies very soon 👀

If you don't receive yours just yet, don’t worry—we definitely haven’t forgotten about you. Fulfillment happens in phases, and over the next few weeks the team will continue carefully packaging orders, sorting add-ons, and making sure everything reaches all corners of the world safely and correctly.

But rest assured: things are very much moving.

Updated Files

On the digital side of things, I have two updates for you as well.

First, one of you requested a version of the zine without the beige page background. I thought that was a great idea, so I went ahead and added it.

This version keeps all the artwork and color elements intact, but uses a plain white page background instead. It’s a nice middle ground for people who still want to print the zine in color at home while saving a good amount of ink coverage.

Second, the tables-only document has now been updated to include:

  • The Approaches Spark table
  • A short rule summary

These were previously only available on the bookmark version.

Both updated files are already live on Itch.io. As usual, you do not need a new link or access code. Just use the same page you already claimed before, head to your downloads, and the new files should be waiting for you there. You’ll probably also receive an automatic update email from Itch shortly.

That’s all for today.

I appreciate you all very much, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Take care,
—Cezar

Guess what we have in these boxes? 👀
3 months ago – Fri, May 15, 2026 at 07:34:05 AM

Greetings, everyone.

I have excellent news to share with you.

Guess what’s inside those big boxes?

Yep. You guessed it.

Triple-O has arrived at the warehouse! Check it out:

Shipment procedures have officially begun, which is incredibly exciting.

Now, I do have one important favor to ask:

->> Please make sure you completed your survey.

At the time of writing, we still have 53 backers who haven’t completed theirs, and 14 shipping payments that were declined during processing. Please take a moment to double-check your information and make sure everything is in order.

If you missed the survey email, don’t worry. You can use this link, enter your email address, and BackerKit will resend it to you.

Not only does this help make sure your zine reaches you safely, but it also helps speed up fulfillment logistics for everyone else as we move through the shipping process.

And seriously… the zines turned out gorgeous. I’m really, really happy with the final result, and I can’t wait for you all to get them in your hands!

If you missed the physical version during the campaign and are reconsidering it now, the pre-order store is still open.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments below.

Thank you once again for your support, and have an incredible weekend!

Take care,

Trait sheets, printer-friendly version, and more
3 months ago – Fri, May 08, 2026 at 04:08:42 AM

Greetings, everyone

I come today with a packed update.

Since I was already working on the Trait Sheets and the printer-friendly version, I decided to go a bit further and prepare a few extra files that I think many of you will enjoy.

Here’s everything included in this update:

  • A black-and-white printer-friendly version of the zine containing the full content, minus the graphics and artwork, optimized for home printing
  • Trait Sheets in both A5 and A4 formats, with multiple layouts that can fit up to four characters on a single page
  • A separate document containing only the tables, formatted for quick reference and easy printing
  • The bookmark PDFs, both in full-color and printer-friendly versions, including the rule summary and exclusive Spark table
  • An updated version of the main zine fixing one final typo (“Random Rables” 🤦)

How to Get It

No new links are required.

Just use the same Itch.io link you already claimed before. If I previously sent you a custom access link due to any hiccups, that same link will continue to work as well.

Simply head to your downloads page and grab the updated files.

And as always, if you run into any problems, feel free to reply to this email or leave a comment below and I’ll help you sort it out.

I hope you enjoy the extras!

Take care,
–Cezar

PDF updated — Download it now!
3 months ago – Mon, Apr 27, 2026 at 03:21:46 AM

Greetings, everyone

Weekly update here, this time freshly recovered from a weekend of sinusitis. Would not recommend the fever-induced hallucinations.

Now, onto better things.

Version 1.0.2 is out

As promised, I’ve polished the PDF and released a new version.

This update includes:

  • All fixes from the proofreading pass
  • Adjusted contrast on several illustrations
  • Proper bookmarks and hyperlinks for navigation

The previous version had some automatically generated bookmarks that were… questionable. Those are now gone. You can use the table of contents and internal links to quickly jump to any section or table.

New Additions

I was also able to fold in a few pieces of feedback into one clean solution.

  • The file now has the correct page count for home zine printing (multiples of four)
  • A blank Trait Sheet has been added
  • A new page with recommended tools and character generators that pair well with Triple-O

That brings us to what I consider the final version of the PDF! Yay!

For the next update, I plan to release printer-friendly versions of both the full zine and the trait sheet. Stay tuned!

How to access it

If you’ve already claimed your copy, you don’t need to do anything. Just go back to the itch.io page and download the updated file. You should also receive (or have already received) an email from Itch notifying you of the update.

If you haven’t claimed it yet:

If anything doesn’t work, just reach out (reply to this email or leave a comment below) and I’ll sort it out for you.

Survey reminder

Surveys are still open!

At the time of writing, about 90% of you have completed them, which is fantastic. Thank you!

That also means roughly 100 of you still need to fill them out. If that’s you, please take a moment to do so.

If you can’t find your survey email, use this recovery link and BackerKit will resend it:

Printing Status

With the PDF finalized, I’ve sent the files to the publisher.

They’re now reviewing everything—colors, fonts, bleed, and other print specs—to make sure the final product meets quality expectations. After that, we move into proof printing, review, and then full production. More on that soon.

Finally, a quick shoutout to Sacred Art of Gaming on YouTube for a very kind review—really appreciated that!

That’s all for today.

Take care,
—Cezar

Surveys are out — check your inbox (and other news)
3 months ago – Mon, Apr 20, 2026 at 03:02:09 AM

Hello, folks

This update has a few important topics, so here’s a quick summary up front:

TL;DR

  • Surveys have been sent to all backers—check your inbox
  • Can’t find it? Use this recovery link with your BackerKit email
  • Backed both Triple-O and Dedboi? You only pay shipping once (on their end)
  • Missed the campaign? The pre-order store is now open
  • Next steps: final PDF polish + proofreading, then print and fulfillment in May (with possible spillover into June)

Full Update

I’m officially back at the office and easing into full-time work again. A bit of jet lag and some lingering feelings still, but overall I’m getting back into rhythm and focusing on production.

Surveys Are Out

You should have received an email from BackerKit asking you to complete your survey. This is where you:

  • Confirm your reward
  • Provide your shipping address
  • Pay for shipping
  • Add any add-ons
  • Double-check all your information

If you backed the campaign and can’t find the email, don’t worry. Just use this link, enter the same email you used during the campaign, and BackerKit will resend it to you.

At the time of writing, 83% of you have already completed your survey—that’s incredibly helpful and keeps everything moving smoothly. Thank you.

Surveys will remain open until early May. After they close, there will be a short window before cards are charged for shipping and add-ons.

If you need to update your payment details, there will be reminders—but the sooner you complete your survey, the better.

Missed the Campaign?
If you didn’t back during the campaign, the pre-order store is now open, and you can still grab the zine there (and all the add-ons).

Cross-Collab Bonus (Triple-O + Dedboi)
If you backed both projects, you’ll only pay shipping once, as promised. Here’s how it works:

  • You’ll pay shipping through the Dedboi survey
  • On the Triple-O side, your shipping has already been zeroed out

You still need to complete both surveys, but no extra steps are required.

Next Steps

I’m still waiting on the proofreading pass, but in the meantime I’m:

  • Finalizing the PDF (image contrast, color adjustments, page count checks, hyperlinks and bookmarks)
  • Preparing the file for zine printing
  • Creating a printer-friendly version (black & white, no background graphics) for easier home printing

Once the final PDF is ready, I’ll send it to the publisher. Since printing is local (UK), turnaround should be quick (around a week). Fulfillment will happen through May, with a possible spillover into early June due to the UKGE convention at the end of the month (and other potential logistics hiccups that we have no control over). I’ll keep you updated every step of the way with news (and pics when available).

In parallel, I’ll work on the interactive version while printing and fulfillment are underway.

That’s all for today.

I’ve already heard from some of you who started using Triple-O in your sessions, and the feedback has been incredibly positive. It’s great to see it in action.

Thank you again for your support.

Take care,
—Cezar
